Expected release date, cast and more:
Young Royals is officially back on Netflix for season two (hooray!). And while we're literally over the moon, there's one huge question on our lips: Will we get a Young Royals season three?
To recap, the Swedish series follows Prince Wilhelm (Edvin Ryding) as he enrols at prestigious boarding school Hillerska. When he meets fellow student Simon Eriksson (Omar Rudberg), the young prince is forced to choose between duty and love - with a whole bunch of other drama unfolding along the way.
Season two dropped on Netflix on 1 November, with our favourite characters returning to Hillerska. But will they be back for a third series? Here's everything we know about Young Royals season three so far...
Has Young Royals season 3 been confirmed?
Netflix has just confirmed Young Royals will be returning for a third and final season.
Confirming the good news on Twitter earlier today the official Netflix account tweeted: "Simon + Wilhelm forever? Young Royals will return for a third and final season." Wooo!
Edvin Ryding, who plays Wilhelm, celebrated the good news by sharing an image of Simon and Wilhelm together on his Twitter, captioning it: "One last time. Season 3 is coming💜"
And Omar Rudberg, who stars as Simon in the series, tweeted the same picture, adding: "The final S3 is coming… #YoungRoyals."
Who will star in Young Royals season 3?
Young Royals obviously hinges on the relationship between Wilhelm and Simon, meaning we'd expect actors Edvin Ryding and Omar Rudberg to return.
On top of that, there's the pair's rival (and Wilhelm's second cousin) August of Årnäs, played by Malte Gårdinger. Plus, Frida Argento (who plays Simon's sister Sara), and Nikita Uggla (Felice). So far none of the cast have been officially confirmed to return to the series.
Of course, the S3 plot will determine who returns to the show, but we're hoping to see all of our favourite familiar faces back on screen. And as much as we're invested in the Young Royals characters, we're also thoroughly obsessed with the cast off screen (including all of their adorable BTS pics). We're ready for more!
When will Young Royals season 3 be released?
Young Royals season three has just been confirmed, so we'll still have a long time to wait before getting a release date. Tracking the current pattern, Young Royals season one was released in July 2021, followed by season two on 1 November 2022. So, we'd hope to see a season three by around late 2023, or soon after. Fingers crossed!
